Kurdistan/Iraq

If you’ve heard any news in recent days, Kurds in Syria and Turkey, are prime-time.  Though our work with Kurds is for now is in Kurdistan-Iraq, please be concerned for this region.  Our good friends, Arre and Ariem, are weary of the seemingly constant tensions that keep surfacing in all of Kurdistan.  There’s hope, in that I and my colleagues can get back to this region quickly, hopefully November/December, as much groundwork is being laid for training, helping Yazidi refugees with winter relief, translation work, TCD-Transformational Community Development with Yazidi, and diplomatic progress.  A focus there in the next 24 months will be micro-enterprise endeavors within TCD.  Urgent funds are needed for winter preparation for Yazidi refugees, especially the children. Ask yourself, how you might help in these and other endeavors in this region.  

Serbia
Snezana and her son (Luka), have been in regular contact with me, as we walk through this upcoming year of committed funding (yes, Serbia is now funded for TCD for the next 1-2 years! 🙂  ) and the ways we can all walk through movement forward in best implementing TCD.  Luka has been most helpful in translating, and helping all involved understand the intricacies of living/working with Roma-Gypsies in a Serbian country.  A focus there in the next 12 months will be micro-enterprise endeavors within TCD.  We are trusting for positive forward movements all this.  Nora and I are hoping to be there together in Serbia in early June.  🙂 

Rwanda

I know … you’re thinking … what’s up with Rwanda in the picture, all of a sudden?!  Did you notice a repeated focus in the above two paragraphs; “micro-enterprise”?  TCD in general, in increasing numbers of countries and locations, is experiencing a severe request in this area of micro-enterprise implementation.  It’s become a lynchpin for self-sustainability expansion.  I desperately need to be in Rwanda in about 3 weeks, as there is a TCD Micro-Enterprise endeavor there that I need to be a part of, all in the context of training and sharing that training in both Kurdistan and Serbia and beyond !  Will you please consider getting me there, as I need to be personally involved in both the teaching and training, moving ahead well in countries we are moving ahead, into?  I need $ 3,000 immediately for this trip, and another $ 3,000 each for the following trips into Kurdistan and Serbia.   Thank you deeply for considering these needs!!!  

These are exceedingly exciting times to live and work in these regions !

We are grateful to all who contributed financially to their time here.  They were able to take home over $1K for their work and life among Yazidi and in refugees development TCD.   Stories upon stories surfaced, as exampled in:

Friend …

close on the heals of my IRAQ/LEBANON trip, was my next one to SERBIA.  We are so grateful to those who have capacity and choose to sponsor a village for an entire year or more.  Such is one of the members and initiators of this STT-Short Term Team to Djorgovaka Mahala Village, our Roma-gypsy village near Lebane, Serbia.

Assessing, teachings focused on entrepreneurship and family relationships, were the aim.  We are grateful to see the momentum building, as Snezana leads this and other Roma/gypsy villages out of every form of poverty.

My time with Snezana(far left in the below 3-some photo) and the translator were especially good, as I wanted to see better how she was doing personally, after the death of her husband(Slave), two years ago.  The gracious grace in healing and moving her forward, allows her to vest so much of her life in these Roma. 

Technology can assist greatly, as the below photo demonstrates.  We were able to SKYPE in a live-session to this group, from Kolkata, India, where Sushil Marandi was able to guide the group through some TCD issues relevant to any village.

Summer travel plans are so far limited.  Nora and I were pursuing our best to see you in Georgia and the S. East USA.  Due to her desperately needing to rest, after her first year as a para at our local elementary school, her overall health issues, and other needs(text or call for details), we regret that it’s looking like that trip cannot happen this year.  If things change, we will surely let you know ASAP.  Thanks for your understanding!  🙂
