Dearest one …  It was a true joy to launch this most recent team, heading to I/K, L, and J.  You may be wondering if I miss these trips, as I traveled extensively for almost 15 years.  Of course I do!  Yet I have great peace and contentment concerning staying back and supporting them from start to finish.  With all that is going on ‘there’ and ‘here’, I feel grace’d upon that I am still able to pour my life into both!!!      This team is already having a remarkable journey, in how they have been able to:   *   serve gifts to the refugees brought from the USA in medical supplies, clothing, etc.  * hold a ‘time of refreshing’ conference * meet with key leaders to encourage and bolster them  * meet with key diplomatic leaders to further expand our influence in the region  * meet with key Syrian refugees and leaders who are serving needs in their home country of Syria  * start and further lifetime relationships that will extend exponentially via ZOOM and other communication venues  * distribute wheelchairs via the Lebanese military, due to ‘special’ connections  * have fun and eat too much of that mouth-watering Lebanese food !!!  🙂              Nora’s health  Several months ago, we communicated we were concerned after Nora had an MRI of her brain.  She has experienced chronic fatigue, difficulty remembering appointments, and where she puts things, etc..  Since then, we have pursued more medical opinions (Thank you, Chip Pettigrew … and others!!!) and evaluations. Last week, she was finally able to get in for an extensive neurological-psychological evaluation that lasted 4+ hours.  She left exhausted!  More pursuits of how to best proceed are ahead, as both the MRI and N-P have indicated measures of memory decrease.  And while we are not consumed in concern now, we are seeing ‘something’ there, and will take all actions for preventing further memory loss, and possibly even reversals.    At present, she has chosen not to pursue any vocational activity, as we evaluate what lies ahead for her and us as a family.   Dan’s health Besides being impatient with my age and recovery speed, I am doing fine, after my surgery bout in July.  I joke that I simply cannot bounce back like I did when I was 61!  LOL !  I ain’t no young’n anymore.  🙂  Dan, Nora and I are so grateful for you and your continued choice to be with us on this journey!    In truest “word” …   &  Dan and Nora                                        Dan and Nora’s personal GSA giving site, for online gifts, please CLICK below on the link or scan QRC above:  https://www.globalassociates.org/members/daniel-emig ❤️   😊   Donations mailing address noted on check: “for Daniel Emig”         Global Service Associates P.O. an Emig family brief …

Warmest greetings, dear one …    We’re looking forward to wrapping up a ‘medical month’ and heading into health again.  On the 16th/Wednesday, I was having a fairly normal morning, taking care of appointments, with only nominal abdominal discomfort.. Yet as the day progressed, the pain worsened.  Nora insisted I go to the ER, so around 3 pm I consented.  Admitted, ER said I was having obstructed intestinal issues.  That evening, the surgeon walked into my room and said he was going to operate immediately.  Wow, I thought, this is one whiplash of a day!  Oddly, the obstruction ended up being gas, so no other medical interventions were necessary except for rearranging some things and snipping some scar tissue off.  Thank You, LORD!   Released the following Tuesday from the hospital, I have been in recovery mode and getting the staples out on August 1st.  I’m moving about progressively better and have managed to get to most of my commitments this week.     David, my brother (5 years younger than me) who lives in Arkansas, is now out of surgery in Houston, TX, for a repeat of a dissected aorta, as he had one some 14 years ago. They were able to air-evacuate him to Houston, where specialists gave him a new non-mechanical aortic valve and aorta.  He’s progressing exceptionally well, and even able to walk and sit already, with lots of help.  We are grateful for GOD’s blessings in protecting David and that he is recovering already so well!  The LORD is truly good to us both!   It seems we Emig males need to be on top of our blood pressure and keep it as low as we can without weakening our abilities to function, especially upright.  😀     Nora is wrapping up the end of her TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) treatments over the past 6 weeks, and it looks like it is helping some.  We continue to pursue other, more extensive testing, one at the Center For Cognitive Health in October or November, where she will have more in-depth evaluations.    , The Conferences planning in Iraq/Kurdistan and Lebanon for August and September continues to go exceptionally well, and I am super-excited to introduce you to the newest team member.  J.B. Our dear ones …   Collateral damage is defined as:  *     Unintended or incidental injury or damage to persons or objects that would not be lawful military targets in the circumstances ruling at the time, often occurring during military operations. It is a byproduct of attacks on legitimate military targets.  Harm inflicted on civilians or civilian infrastructure during attacks on legitimate military targets.”   I am reminded that collateral damage is much broader and deeper than this only, the military definition.   In my world of work in various places on the planet, I have frequent personal messaging and texts coming across my phone/computer via these or email. I breathe deeply and simply grieve at times, too many times lately.  It’s understandably too hard for some Americans to relate to the sufferings we do not have here in our safe country.   When the USA-led bunker-buster bombs into Iran were announced after the initial days of warring between Israel and Iran, we in our partnerships in that region braced for the inevitable.  Suffering is experienced very quickly and ripples out assuredly.  Below a re-edited, most recent communications from that region:  “Regarding the situation of the majority, I would like to inform you that their condition—both in terms of security, psychological well-being, and daily living—is extremely difficult. In addition to the fear of hatred against them, they are facing severe hardships due to the aftermath of the war. One of the acquaintances told me: “I stood in line for five hours, from six in the morning until eleven, behind more than one hundred and fifty people just to get four loaves of bread.”  Basic necessities are only available at ten to twenty times the pre-war prices. Markets and shops are closed. Supplies and food inside homes have run out completely. There is no electricity and no water. We haven’t been able to bathe for the past ten days. We spent all our money on fuel just to leave our homes and search for a safer place far from military installations. Our infants are in desperate need of milk, not to mention their fear and panic from the sounds of bombs and aircraft.
